The Power of YOUth
Founded in 2008 by the Jewish Community Center of the South Bay, led by Rabbi Yossi and Sara Mintz, Cteen was established in order to provide for the needs of Jewish Teens in the South Bay Area. Rabbi Yossi and Sara Mintz saw the growing teen community in the Beach Cities, and created CTeen to be their home away from home, and safe space for teens to grow and flourish.
In the summer of 2020, Rabbi Yossi and Sara Mintz welcomed Rabbi Shlomie Sirota, his wife Rechyl, and daughter Mushka to join the team at the JCC of the South Bay, and to head the CTeen Chapter here.
Rabbi Shlomie grew up in Brooklyn and attended Rabbinical school in Argentina and Baltimore. He received his Rabbinical ordination from the Rabbinical College of America in Morristown, New Jersey. Shlomie has extensive experience with teens and youth, and is known for his vibrant positive energy. Shlomie has also travelled to Sheingdu,China, Lima, Peru, and the Cayman Islands to serve as a Rabbi there.
Rechyl grew up in Northwest Connecticut, and completed her education in Brooklyn, New York and Safed, Israel. Rechyl has directed summer programs in Greenwich, Connecticut, and Lisbon, Portugal. Rechyl has extensive experience in early childhood education, and loves being in the classroom with her students.
Shlomie and Rechyl welcomed their daughter, Mushka, into the world this past February.
